To increase the representation of Black Pharmacy residents in the United States, Ijeoma Ekeocha partnered with two other pharmacists Iman Ahmed and Kevin Scott II to form Reaching Residency.
What We Know
Obtaining a pharmacy residency helps pharmacists develop essential leadership skills, fine-tune their critical thinking skills, and helps them enhance their clinical skillsets in order to provide optimal patient care.
Research1 shows that patients often do better when their healthcare providers look like them. As the responsibilities of pharmacists evolve to include more direct patient care, it’s important that Black Pharmacists are adequately represented in these roles.
About Reaching Residency
The goal of Reaching Residency is to increase the representation of Black Pharmacy Residents for the 2021/2022 residency cycle by providing prospective pharmacy residents with individualized guidance with:
- CV review
- Letter of intent review
- Interview preparation
The aim is to ensure Black Pharmacists are adequately represented within the healthcare system in leadership opportunities.
